There is a simple reason many of us don’t reach our goal of recovery – we quit too soon.
Thomas Edison was right: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Scaling Mount Recovery will be the hardest climb of your life. There will be many times when you will become exhausted, frustrated, and want to turn back. If you find yourself wanting to turn back today, I ask you to do five things first:
- Attend one more meeting.
- Read one more book.
- Pray one more prayer.
- Make one more call.
- Take one more step.
Recovery Step: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). I like the way legendary actress Mae West said it.
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
