The movie Donnie Garko was about a teen by the same name, who suffered from schizophrenia. He was told by a rabbit named Frank that in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds his world would end. Frank empowered him to do anything he wanted while his time remained.
What would you do if you knew that you had 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds to live? Let me make a few suggestions.
- Find peace with God.
- Live a completely sober life.
- Make amends.
- Go somewhere special.
- Visit someone special.
- Go to four recovery meetings.
- Lead one person to faith in Christ.
The Bible admonishes us, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).
Recovery Step: Of course, you don’t know how many days you have left. But you do apparently have today. Today, try this: (a) learn something new, (b) do something better, and (c) love someone deeply.
