It’s time to put down your phone!
The average person checks his phone 352 times a day. I did the math. Assuming we sleep eight hours a day, this means we are looking at our phones once every three minutes for the other 16 hours of the day.
And this is a problem. At the root of sexual addiction is an intimacy disorder. The solution isn’t to text more but to talk more. Be present with those around you. We need to adopt the attitude of the early church. Paul wrote, “We loved you so much that we shared with you the Good News, and our very lives” (1 Thessalonians 2:18).
The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety. It is connection. And that won’t happen if you are messing with your phone every three minutes of every day.
Recovery Step: Put down your phone. Seek real connection with God and others.
