Recovery is the result of good habits, done over and over and over and over.
Aristotle said, “Quality is not an act; it is a habit.” And Will Durant added, “We are what we repeatedly do.”
Let me give you a simple formula for establishing new habits, which are key to your long-term sobriety. Think of this as the 3M strategy. Your new habits must be:
- Measurable
- Meaningful
- Maintainable
If you want to stay sober, you need to establish good habits. Otherwise, you don’t stand a chance.
Recovery Step: “Let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:4).
