Robert Plympton was accused of killing a young woman in 1980. He pleaded not guilty and got off, due to a lack of evidence. But 44 years later, new evidence was discovered – old chewing gum.
The DNA from the gum was traced to Plympton, and he was found guilty of the crime. The biblical promise came true: “Be sure that your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23).
You can run, but you cannot hide. My story is no different than that of every other addict I know. Of all the times I acted out, I got away with it 99.9 percent of the time. I was not discovered. Or so I thought.
Two things happened . . .
- The other 0.1 percent was bad enough.
- The guilt and shame caught up to me.
Recovery Step: You might as well get your secrets out now before they kill you. After all, they will come out eventually.
