The Universities of North Carolina and Toronto did a fascinating study of 84 people. All 84 participants were given the same set of math problems, but half were placed in a bright room, while the other half were seated in a dark room. The ones in the dark room performed better on the test.
Why? Because those sitting in the dark cheated. They copied off of one another’s work.
Jesus said, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness” (John 8:12). Notice, Jesus didn’t say those who follow him will never fail. He just said that they would walk in the light.
Recovery Step: Perhaps you need to adjust your focus. Yes, you need to avoid relapse and walk in sobriety. But what matter more than how you are walking is where you are walking. Determine today that you will walk in the light.
