Dr. Mack Slaughter is a 41-year-old emergency room doctor and a proud father of three, living in Fort Worth, Texas. In early January, he took his kids to breakfast at one of their favorite restaurants, Mimi’s Café.
After a breakfast filled with laughter, silliness, and great pancakes, Dr. Slaughter asked for the bill. To his shock, he was told that another patron had already covered his tab of $85.21. The waitress handed him his receipt, which had a written note scribbled on the back side, from his generous anonymous friend.
The man wrote, “Thank you for being a great dad. From a dad to a dad. Thank you for being the dad they need you to be, regardless of who’s watching. We need more of you. Thank you for letting us all see your love for your children.”
Guys, you can’t go back and change the past. But you can still change the future – one child at a time.
Recovery Step: “Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged” (Colossians 3:21).
