Not every recovery tool will yield the same results. I came across this little verse the other day. It speaks directly to this issue.
“You do not know which will succeed – this or that – or whether both will do equally well” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).
The solution is to try multiple strategies that will bring varying degrees of success. Here are a few examples of things you might try to gain solid footing in your recovery:
- A new therapist
- A new podcast
- A new group
- A new book
- A new sponsor
- A new set of circles
- A new intensive
Some of these tools will be exactly what you need. Others will make little difference. The answer is to fight the battle on multiple fronts and embrace the things you find to be most helpful.
