You will never get out of addiction by relying on the same thinking that got you into addiction. Said another way, it was your best thinking that got you into this mess. Perhaps it is time to follow your heart rather than your brain.
Blaise Pascal said, “The heart has its reasons which reason knows not of. We know the truth not only by reason, but by the heart.” And in his book, The Power of Intuition, Gary Klein reveals the magic of learning to trust our cues that provide insight to situations our brains cannot yet grasp.
Solomon was a smart dude, full of wisdom. But even he made several questionable decisions. For example, if we could bring him before us today, I’m pretty sure he’d confess that having 1,000 wives and girlfriends might have been a bad call.
In Solomon’s own words: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 16:25).
Recovery Step: Follow the instinct, discernment, and prompting of the Holy Spirit above your very best thinking.
