What do you know about Adam? He was the first man. He was married to Eve. He had two sons – Cain and Abel. Due to his sin, he was cast from the Garden. He had another son – Seth.
But all of that accounts for just 14 percent of Adam’s life.
The last 800 years of Adam’s life is summarized by exactly 10 words. “Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters” (Genesis 5:4).
From this we learn three lessons.
- God was not done with Adam just because he fell.
- It’s what comes after the fall that matters most.
- There are two parts to life: (a) the fall, and (b) what comes next.
Recovery Step: Adam’s greatest legacy was in the extended family produced over 800 years of a quiet life after he left the Garden. Think of the Garden as your life before the fall. (We’ve all fallen.) Now commit yourself to what comes next.
