“I don’t have time to worry about who doesn’t like me. I’m too busy loving the people who love me.”
– Snoopy
Don’t worry about the people who are no longer in your corner. When you come clean with your addiction, some of your family members and friends will sever all ties with you. I offer three words of advice – Let them go. That’s the price of addiction, You don’t get to control the consequences. You can pray for them and offer amends to them, but you must be able to let them go.
Here’s the good news – Some will stay. They won’t stay despite your failures, but because of them. Go all in with this crowd. Snoopy was right. You don’t have time to worry about those who don’t like you. You need to stay busy loving the ones who have stayed by your side.
Paul said, “Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:8).
Recovery Step: Think of one person who has stood beside you, and thank them today.
