When I was a kid, I often explained my resistance to doing homework with a timeless refrain. “I will never need this in real life!”
I appreciate social commentator Fran Lebowitz, who wryly observed, “In real life, there is no such thing as algebra.”
Perhaps Solomon was thinking about algebra when he lamented, “It’s all meaningless!” (Ecclesiastes 1:1).
When you think about it, there are quite a few things in this life that are pretty meaningless. But let’s think about some things that matter – a lot.
- Your relationship with Christ
- Your relationship with your family
- Your relationship with recovery
Recover Step: Keep the main thing the main thing. Focus on your relationships with Christ, family, and recovery.
