Through the young prophet, God spoke to an entire nation that was rife with pride. This was that message, to the empire of Babylon: “I am against you, you arrogant one, for your day has come, the time for you to be punished” (Jeremiah 50:31).
Imagine hearing those words from an all-powerful God – “I am against you.”
I don’t recall reading that anywhere else in Scripture. Such horrifying words were reserved for people of pride, eaten up with arrogance. To them, God declared, “I am against you.”
We aren’t here to rank sin. But if you just have to pick one sin to commit today, pick anything but pride.
