There’s a lot of incorrect thinking about . . . apples.
For example, we often hear, “It’s as American as apple pie.” The problem with that is that the apple pie was created in England. And apples are native to Asia.
We hear that Adam and Eve ate an apple in the Garden. Of course, the Bible never says that.
But the Bible does mention apples seven times. Apple trees provide shade (Song of Solomon 2:3) and nutritional refreshment (Song of Solomon 2:5). Apple trees were considered among the most valuable of all trees in Israel (Joel 1:12).
Each day, just in the United States, 26.9 million apples are consumed.
So what’s the point?
Thought replacement.
What does that mean?
Glad you asked. For about 60 seconds, I got you to think about apples. That is one minute you didn’t waste on lust, fantasy, or other unhealthy thoughts.
Recovery Step: When your mind starts to wander into unhealthy territory, change the subject. Or better yet, eat a slice of apple pie.
