Archimedes was a mathematician and physicist in the 3rd century, B.C. He famously said, “Give me a place on which to stand and a lever long enough and I will move the world.”
From the example of Archimedes we find two qualities that are indispensable for success in any endeavor:
- Tenacity
- Confidence
Our concern here is recovery from unwanted sexual behaviors. In my ten years in recovery, I have learned that I am in a fight. You are in a fight. Paul said it like this: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
I pray that those words will one day be my words. May I fight the good fight with both tenacity and confidence. Tenacious, in that I will never stop fighting for my sobriety. Confident, in that I know the Source of my strength.
Recovery Step: Stay in the battle. Make tenacity and confidence your calling cards, and nothing will hold you back.
