We all thrive under encouragement and die under criticism. Solomon said it like this: “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24).
Unfortunately, we can’t always count on receiving a lot of encouragement from others. We need to create our own attitude of positivity.
Leaders with the Guardian Recovery Network offer five tips for staying positive.
- Find consistent peer support.
- Find ways to manage your cravings.
- Get a hobby.
- Create ways to relax.
- Help others.
Don’t wait on someone else to make you feel good about yourself. Take the initiative. Pick one of the five options above. Or come up with your own. Then take charge. Take one step today – in a positive direction.
Recovery Step: Take one positive step in the right direction.
