A man with no arms was in need of a job. He walked into a large Catholic parish and inquired of the priest, “Do you have any jobs for me?”
The priest answered, “Only one. We need someone to ring the bell in the tower. If you are able to climb to the top and ring the bell each hour, the job is yours.”
The armless man gladly accepted. He climbed to the top of the tower. Each hour, he rang the huge bell – with his face. He had no other way, so he’d run into the bell at the top of each hour, with his face. Sadly, one day, he missed the bell and fell out of the tower, to his death.
When police arrived, they questioned several onlookers. They asked if anyone recognized the dead man with no arms. One witness responded, “I don’t know him personally, but his face rings a bell.”
Now, I’ll take that awful joke and bend it into a lesson. Let’s try this – the armless man is an example of how much you can accomplish in life, if you only use your head.
Recovery Step: Use your head. As in, ask for wisdom. Do what Solomon did when God offered him anything he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom (1 Kings 3:12).
