One night, at the dinner table, the wife told her husband, “I remember when we were first married, you always took the smallest piece of steak and left me the largest piece. Now that we’ve been married for 25 years, you always take the larger piece of steak. You don’t love me anymore!”
Her husband replied, “Nonsense! You’ve just become a much better cook now than you were 25 years ago!”
While this man’s wife should be commended for her improved culinary skills, that is no excuse for his behavior. The Bible gives husbands a very simple command: “Love your wives” (Ephesians 5:25).
There are a lot of ways to love your wife – a kind word, a small gift, even a piece of steak. But here’s a gift I promise you she will love.
Lasting sobriety.
Recovery Step: Guys, your wife deserves your undying devotion. She longs for the expression of your love, even if it comes in the form of a piece of meat.
