Never underestimate the value of hard work.
The business world has discovered that a good work ethic trumps raw talent. In a recent survey, 91 percent of business executives said they hire people who demonstrate a hard work ethic over those who have superior talent.
And men and women who have achieved great success in their field credit hard work over personal skill by a two-to-one margin.
The apostle Paul was ahead of his time. Two thousand years ago, he said, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart” (Colossians 3:23).
Notice, Paul did not write, “Work at it with all your talent.”
This truth applies to recovery. There is no silver bullet. No secret to success. The simple fact is, that those who really want to be sober are sober. Let me say it another way – you are exactly as sober as you really want to be.
Recovery Step: You can be sober if you really work at it. In fact, you will be sober. If you really work at it.
