On this date in 1770, Daniel Lambert was born. He was a slim, athletic boy. But at the age of 21, Daniel’s vice became known. He was addicted to unhealthy foods. Out of control, Daniel would balloon up to 705 pounds, making him the heaviest person who ever lived. He died in 1809, at the young age of 39.
According to “It’s Bigger than Me,” more than 40 percent of adults in the United States are obese.
That is a problem on two levels:
- Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
- Overeating can lead to financial ruin (Proverbs 23:20-21).
What is true of food addictions is true of any addiction. They can rob us of our health and well-being.
Recovery Step: Any addiction can ruin you on many levels.
