We all know that God expects us to be holy. That means to be set apart, living lives of integrity and character. But did you know God actually expects more than holy lives?
Paul told the church, “He chose us to be holy and blameless” (Ephesians 1:4).
Paul’s message was that we are to not only live lives that are holy, but lives that are beyond accusation, or blame. That’s a tall order. It’s not enough that we live lives of integrity; we are to stay so far from the line that we can’t be credibly accused of crossing to the other side.
Living a life that is blameless might include the following:
- Avoid time alone with the opposite sex.
- Stay off all social media.
- Don’t laugh at sexual jokes.
- Don’t use salty language.
- Think twice before drinking your next beer.
Here’s the deal. As a follower of Christ, you have a target on your back. People are looking for an excuse to accuse. So stay away from your guardrails. Avoid even the appearance of sin.
Recovery Step: Live a life that is holy. And blameless.
