Bullfrogs don’t sleep.
But don’t let that stop you. Rest is important. Otherwise, God wouldn’t have promised, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
The Psychology Today staff writes, “The relationship between sleep and mental health – both positive and negative – is multifaceted and complex. But in general, evidence consistently shows that healthy amounts of sleep are associated with better moods, improved productivity, and even heightened satisfaction with life in general.”
Maybe you have never associated rest with recovery. Well, you should. “Tired” is one of the five basic triggers for acting out. When we are too busy, overcommitted, and seldom take a timeout, we get into trouble.
God has given you just enough time to do everything he wants you to do. And “everything” includes rest.
Recovery Step: God has provided all you need to stay sober. The rest is up to you.
