God wants to transform your life, from addict to overcomer. But in the process, your uniqueness and personality are likely not on the table. God created you with a uniqueness that did not go away because of your addiction.
Rick Warren writes, “Christlikeness is all about transforming your character, not your personality.”
The Bible says it like this: “Take on an entirely new way of life – a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
Let God do his amazing work in your life – a work of transformation and redemption. But in the process, celebrate the personality and uniqueness that God never wants to go away.
Recovery Step: Seek the One who transforms character and brings recovery, while celebrating the uniqueness that is you.
