On this day in history – April 29, 1892, Charlie Reilly did something that had never been done in a baseball game before. He was baseball’s first pinch hitter.
We all need a pinch hitter at some point.
At some point in every hitter’s career, they come out for a pinch hitter. There are times when the best thing we can do for the team is to call someone else into action.
You need a pinch hitter when . . .
- You are feeling discouraged.
- You are facing temptation.
- You are suffering loneliness.
- You are rendered powerless.
The Bible says, “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bear with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2).
Recovery Step: In recovery, there will be times when you can’t handle the pain or the pressure. You will need to “tap out.” Let others step in to help. You may be in a place like that today.
