Do you know the difference between a cow and a buffalo?
When storms come, cows and buffaloes do two completely opposite things. Cows run from the storm, while buffaloes run into the storm. By running from the storm, once the storm catches them, cows end up in the storm longer than the buffalo, who is running through the storm much faster.
Jesus spent much of his time in storms. On one occasion, he told his disciples, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” (Matthew 8:26).
Then he got up and rebuked the storm, and it became completely calm.
Here’s the lesson. Don’t run from the storms. Learn from them. As that great philosopher, Dolly Marton once said, “Storms make trees take deeper roots.”
Recovery Step: Don’t run from what God has prepared for you – including the storms of life.
