You’ve probably been to a restaurant where – after a wonderful meal – the waiter brought out a lavish dessert tray. No matter how full you were or how disciplined you meant to be, when that tray appeared, it was hard to resist.
What does that irresistible tray look like for you? Chocolate cake? Cheesecake? Ice cream? All of the above?
Jesus described what that tray ought to look like. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied” (Matthew 5:6).
I see two profound truths here.
- We are meant to long for righteousness.
- Only then will we be satisfied.
The enemy is more than happy to serve up a dessert tray. But his offerings are toxic, even deadly. So do what Jesus said to do. Hunger and thirst for righteousness.
