In about 760 B.C., a prophet in Judah said something that every recovering addict needs to hear.
“Woe to you who are complacent” (Amos 6:1).
Never, ever take your sobriety for granted. Never, ever, ever, ever. Don’t do it. Never.
There will be days when you think you’ve “got this,” you can take your foot off the pedal, and coast for a while. Don’t do it! Never become complacent.
So how do you overcome complacency? Kerry Siggins, host of the Leadership podcast, offers five great suggestions.
- Ask for feedback.
- Take on a new endeavor.
- Anticipate change.
- Don’t drink your own Kool-Aid.
Your past performance is no guarantee of future success. Keep moving forward. Never look back. And don’t ever become complacent. Ever.
