“There was a famine for three years, so David sought the face of the Lord” (2 Samuel 21:1).
For most of us, a famine is the last place we go to seek God. Have you ever noticed when we pray at the dinner table?
After the food is served.
We need to learn to seek God’s face in the midst of the famine.
Saint Augustine said, “To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him the greatest adventure; to find him, the greatest human achievement.”
Quit measuring your blessings by pleasure. Anyone can praise God after the meal is served. It’s what you do while sitting at an empty table that reveals your true character.
Recovery Step: Learn to praise God before the meal is served.
