Where we live in Florida, we see a lot of ducks. They are in the pond behind our house, waddling around the neighborhood, and too often, walking across the street.
And that’s where it becomes a problem. Walking across a street where there are a lot of drivers over 90 (the median age of Floridians is 106) is a really dumb thing to do.
What makes it even dumber is that ducks weren’t actually created to walk. They were created to fly, to soar above grandpa driver.
Still, I see it all the time. Mr. Duck walks across the street, dodging traffic, forgetting he was meant to fly.
Sadly, many of us are like Mr. Duck, proud of how fast he can walk.
King David wrote, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
Recovery Step: You were created to fly – above your circumstances, enemies, and your addiction. So reach for the stars, rather than waddling down the street. Set a goal to big that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.
