Let me shed some light on a fake understanding of history.
Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb. At least, not on his own. In a book by Ernest Freeberg, we learn that the original light bulb reflected the work of many inventors, rather than Edison’s genius alone. The research and development culminated with the first bulb, created in Menlo Park, New Jersey, in 1879.
Here’s the lesson from the light bulb. All of us are smarter than any of us, even Thomas Edison. In recovery, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
The Bible says it like this: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).
Recovery Step: Recovery is a team sport. If Thomas Edison needed help to develop a light bulb, you need help to develop recovery.
