“Elementary, my dear Watson.”
– The Return of Sherlock Holmes, 1929
Elementary is not a bad thing. Every success story has a small beginning. Every athlete, astronaut, doctor, engineer, and Recovery Minute writer had to start someplace. Every scholar graduated from elementary school well before he earned advanced degrees.
Recovery works the same way. Start small. Do the elementary things well. Work one Step at a time. Become an active participant in one group. Read one book. Schedule one therapy session with a nearby CSAT.
The prophet said, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” (Zechariah 4:10).
Recovery Step: Do the elementary things well today. You can focus on tomorrow when it gets here.
