The most successful musician in American history said, “I don’t know anything about music, In my line, you don’t have to.”
Elvis had a good point. It is not knowledge that matters as much as what we do with that knowledge.
My favorite author said is like this: “We don’t fall because we don’t know what to do, but because we don’t do what we know” (Life Recovery Plan, by Mark Denison).
So today, I’m not going to give you something to learn. Rather, I will give you something to do. Take these three simple recovery actions today:
- Pray the 3rd Step Prayer.
- Read Psalm 121.
- Commit to 24 hours of sobriety.
Recovery Step: The Bible says, “Anyone who knows the right thing to do, yet does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17). Elvis didn’t need to know everything about music to be a musician. And you don’t need to know everything about recovery to be in recovery.
