Faith is an indispensable element of successful recovery.
Corrie ten Boom said this about faith: “Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.”
And Jesus promised, “Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you ask in faith” (Matthew 21:22).
The role of faith in recovery has now been recognized by academia. A study by sociologist Dr. Brian Grim of Baylor University concluded, “Religious beliefs greatly reduce addiction abuse and significantly enhance recovery.”
To achieve sobriety without faith is like expecting a balloon to rise into the clouds without helium. It simply doesn’t work.
Recovery Step: Embrace the Christian faith. It is an indispensable element of successful recovery.
