A man in a restaurant found a fly in his soup and called the waiter over. “What is that fly doing in my soup?” he asked the waiter.
Looking into the soup, the waiter said, “I think he’s doing the backstroke.”
In life, we often get more than we ordered. James said it like this: “You don’t know what tomorrow may bring” (James 4:13).
Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho nailed it. “The hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage to not be disappointed with what we encounter.”
Recovery Step: Sometimes, your soup comes with a fly that you probably didn’t order. Some flies are simply unavoidable. It’s how you respond to them that matters.
