Have you ever flown stand-by? When you watch the passengers hanging around the desk in front of the terminal, you can always tell the ones who are flying stand-by. Everyone else has a secure ticket. They are sitting comfortably in a chair, reading magazines and working on their laptops, just waiting for their number to be called.
But the people on stand-by aren’t sure they will make the flight. So they stand by, nervously hoping for the best. But when you know where you are going and how you will get there, everything becomes a lot better.
John wrote, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13).
Here are some key steps you can take to make sure you will get to where you want to be:
- Give your life to Christ.
- Work a solid recovery plan.
- Stay connected to others along the journey.
Recovery Step: You don’t have to fly stand-by. Do the things today that will get you to where you want to be.
