Recovery is all about looking forward. You can’t move forward while looking back.
God’s Word says, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:18).
I love that: “Remember not the former things.” That is not always easy, but it is always necessary.
What are the things you need to forget? Start with former acting out partners. Then toss in pornography, fantasy, and anything else you need to let go of.
Ann Landers was right: “Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go.”
So go ahead. Remove your rear-view mirror and start looking forward.
Recovery Step: Focus on the glory of God’s future.
