What you do tomorrow will be determined by the voice you listen to today.
Patrick Morley, founder of Man in the Mirror, says that throughout each day, we listen to four voices:
- The flesh
- The world
- The devil
- The Holy Spirit
We can’t always cut off these voices, but we do get to choose which ones we will listen to and which ones we will follow.
I’m sure we can all agree that we need to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. But what does that mean? Did you know that the Holy Spirit desires to be heard even more than you desire to hear him? If you are not hearing the Spirit’s voice, it’s not because he isn’t speaking.
Jesus promised, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will disclose to you what is to come” (John 16:13).
Recovery Step: Choose ye this day which voice you will listen to! The Spirit is speaking. Remove whatever is clogging your ears and listen for his voice.
