The English language can be confusing. Consider the following evidence.
There is no ham in a hamburger or egg in eggplant. English muffins were not invented in England and French fries did not originate in France. Quicksand takes you down slowly. If vegetarians eat vegetables, why don’t humanitarians eat humans? We park on driveways but drive on parkways. A house burns up as it burns down. You fill in a form by filling it out.
I pity the man who has to learn English as a second language. It can be really confusing.
I’m grateful that while something as insignificant as English muffins, quicksand, and driveways can be misleading, God presents himself with great clarity.
The same Bible that says, “God is not a God of confusion” (1 Corinthians 14:33), also reminds us, “The Lord will give you understanding in everything” (2 Timothy 2:7).
Recovery Step: God is a God of clarity. We don’t fall because we don’t know what to do, but because we don’t do what we know.
