Jerry Seinfeld was probably right. “There’s no such thing as fun for the whole family.”
When we say we are doing something that is “fun for the whole family,” we are inevitably favoring one or two in the family. And that’s okay. In fact, I suggest that if you are a sex addict, it’s on you to do something that is fun for the rest of the family.
If you are the husband/dad in your family, “fun for the whole family” begins with two commands, both found in Ephesians. First, love your wife (Eph. 5:25). Then, care for your children (Eph. 6:4).
Let me offer four ways you can provide “fun for the whole family.”
- Give them your time.
- Give them your sobriety.
- Give them your example.
- Give them your faith.
Recovery Step: Being a man of integrity requires sacrifice. It’s about putting others’ needs first. It’s about walking in recovery and serving your wife and kids. That will guarantee “fun for the whole family.”
