Where would you guess German chocolate cake was invented?
Answer: America.
You see, German chocolate cake was not named for the country, but for the man. It is named after Sam German, who in 1852 created the formula for a mild dark baking chocolate bar for Baker’s Chocolate Company. The recipe was not made public until June 13, 1957, when it was published by the Dallas Morning Star.
Things are not always as they appear. That is why it is important to walk with a certain God in very uncertain times. The psalmist declared, “A person’s steps are made secure by the Lord when they delight in his way. Though they trip up, they won’t be thrown down, because the Lord holds their hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).
Recovery Step: When things are not as they appear, find pleasure in this – God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
