Let’s talk about giving. Start with this truth: Giving is not about what God wants from you, but what God wants for you.
Do you really believe Jesus had your best interests at heart when he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35)?
If you answered “yes,” than make your focus for today that of giving. Take your eyes off the results and what you can get out of something. Embrace the words of Robert Louis Stevenson: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.”
Let me suggest a few ways in which you can give:
- Give your God authenticity.
- Give yourself serenity.
- Give your family sobriety.
- Give your group recovery.
Recovery Step: Anne Frank said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” Give giving a try. You’ll be better for it.
