Dream big dreams. Shoot for the stars. Aim high, don’t settle, and never look back.
Famous architect Daniel Burnham was right: “Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans, aim high in hope and work. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us.”
Too many of us are like the man who told his retiring employee, “We can’t afford to give you a gold watch, Jim, but here’s a phone number that gives the correct time.”
If you chase after God, you may not have a gold watch in your future, but you will have years of sobriety, sustained recovery, and newfound freedom you’ve never known.
Have you been through some storms? Sure, you have! Are some of your bruises self-inflicted? You bet! But none of that changes God’s plan. He didn’t stutter: “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten” (Joel 2:25).
Recovery Step: Don’t embarrass the God of the universe with mediocre dreams.
