“The Lord did not hesitate to bring disaster on us” (Daniel 9:14).
I’m guessing that is not your favorite memory verse, one you stick on the mirror at home. But it’s true. God will not hesitate to bring disaster – for a greater purpose.
One of my Recovery Rules: God loves you more than he hates your mess.
Another Rule: God allows what he hates in order to accomplish what he loves.
God will allow bad things to happen as a result of your bad choices. And that’s a good thing. It is God’s judgment that awakens us to a better path. But that judgment is not inevitable. We have a choice. Author Rober Lehigh writes, “We can bypass God’s judgment; he gives us a choice.”
God cares more about your character than your comfort. So, if you persist in living in your addiction, get ready. He will not hesitate to bring disaster.
Recovery Rule: Turn to God before things get worse.
