Hard times are a part of life. And they are certainly a part of recovery. I love this quote I came across the other day: “Laughter means nothing unless there have been tears” (Jack Hyles).
Often, these tears are the result of bad decisions. A study cited by Psychology Today found that most people fail to learn from their failures. An analysis of five different studies covered 1,674 people, finding that while most fail to learn from failure, those who do learn from them become incredibly successful.
It’s okay to mourn your failures. But it’s even better to learn from them. That is where the magic is. It is in the transition from failure to success that we realize the promise of God.
“In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
Recovery Step: God promises a time when there will be no more tears (Revelation 21:4). That time may not have come for you yet. But it will.
