We can find great lessons for recovery from history. For example, let’s talk World War II. During the attack on Pearl Harbor, a serviceman serving on a maintenance ship was able to save six sailors trapped on the burning USS Arizona by tossing them a rope.
God has done the same thing for each of us. He has offered us a rope.
Paul wrote, “For he rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13-14).
If you are struggling in your addiction today, there are a lot of great next moves. Go to a meeting. See a therapist. Read your Bible. Make a call. And this . . .
Grab a rope.
Recovery Step: There is nothing you can ever do that will take you beyond the reach of God’s grace. So go ahead – grab the rope.
