I know what it is to feel “less than.” When you wear Coke bottles for glasses at the age of eight, and when you stutter your way through school, you can’t help but feel unimpressive. That’s why I love the words of Alice Chapin: “Green apples are apples too.”
The God who is not limited by our shortcomings and failures said, “The Lord lifts up the downtrodden” (Psalm 147:6).
There are four ways God uses our failures:
- God uses our failures to transform us.
- God uses our failures to open new doors of service.
- God uses our failures to change others.
- God uses our failures to correct us.
Are you a green apple? That’s okay. God is all about green apples.
Recovery Step: Bring your shortcomings to God and watch him go to work.
