“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.”
– John Lennon
God never intended us to do life alone. This thing called “connection” is magic. You can’t find recovery without it. Isolation is not your friend. Community is your friend.
Paul told the church, “Encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Dr. Nathan Heflick is the senior lecturer at the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom. He writes extensively on what he calls “the emphatic appeal of being in a group.” Among his findings: almost any shared characteristic can lead us to form lasting, intimate bonds within a group.
Recovery Step: Perhaps the missing ingredient to your recovery is a group. Dr. Brene Brown says this connection produces the energy necessary for self-improvement. Go all in with a group this week.
