A man told his wife that he had invited a friend home for dinner. His wife was enraged. “Are you crazy?” she asked him. “The house is a mess, I didn’t go shopping, the dishes are dirty, and I look like a wreck!”
“I know all that,” the husband responded.
“Then why did you invite your friend over for dinner?”
He said, “Because my poor friend is thinking about getting married.”
Actually, getting married can be a really good thing – under the right circumstances. The Bible says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing” (Proverbs 18:22).
Guys, if you want a great spouse, here’s my formula. It involves just one step, so read carefully.
Become a great spouse – starting with personal sobriety.
Recovery Step: Having found the best wife ever, I embrace this line from the 1998 movie, The Wedding Singer, starring Drew Barrymore. “It could be nice, growing old with you.” Become who your spouse needs you to be, then have fun growing old together.
