Gunsmoke was the greatest western in television history. And Matt Dillon was the best U.S. Marshal ever. But during his 20-year career, Matt was shot 56 times, knocked unconscious 29 times, stabbed three times, and poisoned once. Imagine getting nearly killed on the job nearly five times a year for 20 years. And you think your job is dangerous?
The Bible says, “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will become wiser, still” (Proverbs 9:9).
Someone should have been wise enough to recommend Matt Dillon for a safer job. And I wish someone would have had the wisdom to tell me a few things earlier in life. Such as . . .
- You need therapy.
- It’s best to see a C.S.A.T.
- Disclosures are life-savers.
- 12-Step groups are from God.
- Recovery is possible.
Recovery Step: If someone offers you godly wisdom, take it!
