If you want to grow your own recovery, become a sponsor. Encourage a newcomer. Help someone else get started. In short, be like Jesus.
“The Son of man came, not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).
You will never go further in your recovery than you are willing to take someone else. Said another way, if you’re too big to serve, you’re too small to lead. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it well: “Everyone can be great because everyone can be a servant.”
Make this the day that you give back. Help someone else in recovery. Do something to help someone else.
Recovery Step: Live the life of a servant.
